Venus has emerged from the sea, born full-grown from sea foam on a shell which is driven to the shore by flying Gods, Eros and Psyche, amidst a shower of seashell roses. Venus is a symbol of spiritual love, like an ancient marble statue, slim and long-limbed, with harmonious features.
The wind Gods represent the male and
female force involved in love. Roses are a symbol of Venus and thus the
showering of roses represents the romantic side of love. The aggressive blowing and the passive
blowing of the Gods represent the passionate and the passive
forms of love. The fact that the Gods are intertwined represents the
sexual aspect of love.
