His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, was
born in
Lhathok region of Kham in eastern Tibet and received his initial
education in
the Kagyu tradition at Tsurphu, Tibet. His Holiness fled the
communist control
of
Tibet in January 2000. He is currently residing in
Dharamsala, Himachal
Pradesh,
India. The Karmapa's are known as the
'Vajra Crown', or Black Hat lineage. |
