"Our modern day astrophysicists and astronomers, with all their sophisticated scientific instruments, are not the only humans that have wondered what may exist at the center of our galaxy. The superb astronomers and mathematicians of the ancient Mayan civilization, also pondered this question. The Mayans knew where in the sky the exact center of the galaxy was located and they even had a glyph representing it which is now named Hunab Ku ; it was known to the Mayans as The Galactic Butterfly. Their entire cosmology and extremely accurate calendars were based on the existence and location of Hunab Ku and they deeply believed that the future of mankind ultimately depends on what occurs there." -- John Ennis

Hunab Ku as the Galactic Butterfly

Hunab Ku was, to the Mayans, the supreme God and ultimate Creator and was located in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It represented the gateway to other galaxies beyond our Sun as well as all of the consciousness that has ever existed in this, our own galaxy. Hunab Ku, according to the Mayans, is also the consciousness which organized all matter from a whirling disk - into stars, planets and solar systems. Hunab Ku is the Mother Womb which is constantly giving birth to new stars and it gave birth to our own Sun and planet Earth as well as the other planets found in our solar system. They also believed that the ultimate Creator directs everything that happens in our galaxy from its center through the emanation of periodic energy bursts of consciousness.

Catching the Zuvuya Wave

Surfers oif the Zuvuya
Surfers of the Suvuya, Jose Arguelles, 2012

"We are on the brink of making the quantum leap to the conquest of another dimension by obliterating our fixity in time. And then we will migrate into the future. Each into our own future. And then human history is looked back on as a nightmare awakened from, a brutal but necessary interval to being happily kissed goodbye." -- Terence McKenna Zuvuya 2012

On Dec. 21, 2012 Time machines will begin arriving from all points in the future. They will come from every millennium and eon.

Dr. George Merkl discovered these time machines miniturized within our very blood!

The ancient Maya spoke about the Zuvuya—the loop of linear time that lies horizontally like a flat figure eight, the crossover point being within the life-force center of the human body and soul.

The life-force center is a ball of white light about the size of a grapefruit. It has for eons, during the cycles of the Fall of the Gods and Goddesses, been located behind the belly button. In May, 2007 it moved up to the human heart center as part of the cosmic ascension process. This was also indicative of life becoming more heart or love-centered, than will or logic-based.

Mayan Serpent

When the Zuvuya lies horizontally as depicted in ancient Mayan texts, the body is subject to disease and eventual death. When a child at birth enters into human form and is destined, according to their earthly contract, to reach maturity, their Zuvuya starts out as being vertical—the crossover point still in the life-force center.  An Immortal or Ascended Master’s Zuvuya is in the same position as that of the newborn child’s.

Why then does the ZUVUYA tilt and become horizontal, a position that eventually spills out the life force until the body can no longer sustain life? It tilts for the same reason a planetary axis would: opposition to life and the consequent attempt to control it. In the broadest possible definition, this is also the definition of black magic: that which attempts to enforce its personal will on another human being or the environment. When black magic is practiced on a planet, the axis tilts. When an individual preforms black magic or uses their will to go against the natural flow of others or events and tries to control predestined outcomes, their Zuvuya tilts toward the horizon and they loose their vital life force energy.

The minute we oppose life and its natural flow, thoughts arise, and thought immediately removes us from the true reality of the Eternal Now into the illusion of linear time, time as money. This tilts the vertical Zuvuya; the place of mastery, and forms the horizontal loop of linear time.

The answer to eternal life therefore is, and has always been: “I cease to oppose the natural flow of life.”

"From the Mayan point of view, intuition is the activity of the memory hotline, Zuvuya. This is the voice of your intuition, your higher self, your higher power." -- Jose Arguelles

Ouroboros, zarathus

Zuvuya is the Mayan term for the big memory circuit... the memory hotline. It works individually and collectively. Most importantly, it connects equally to the future as well as the past. Why? Because the Zuvuya is the interdimensional thread. And we are all interdimensional.

The Zuvuya is the wave, and to surf this wave is to be at the dynamic crest that interfaces our 3rd-dimensional physical reality with the reality of the 4th-dimension -- the dimension of our dream bodies, energy bodies, or light bodies.

The Zuvuya is the circuit of radial, fourth-dimensional time that provides the wave you can ride from wherever you are to whatever point in the fourth-dimensional matrix of galactic time your destiny may draw you. It is a discipline to ride the Zuvuya, but so is surfing. Follow "Uncle Joe's" amiable but cosmically merciless instructions to Jose Arguelles, and learn for yourself how to keep the "Zen of the clean wave form." If you do it right, you'll be able to surf "the big One," the one that is coming in right now!

The author casts an experiential dialogue between himself and his higher self---his "dimensional double"---Uncle Joe Zuvuya. Joe is a "jive-talking cosmic trickster, a tongue-in-cheek dimensional surfer" who instructs the author in galactic beams, Maya etheric engineering, Arcturian space stations, Atlantian family histories, and the Zen of the Clean Wave Form!

The following excerpt from Dr. Jose Arguelles' Mayan Factor explain through the model of Double Helix Pattern/Loom of Maya with 64-unit Crossover Polarity Zone of Tzolkin, the galactic interdimensional constant, that Zuvuya is the two-way flow circuit, the coming from and returning to Hunab Ku, the galactic core, which enables galactic humans to become Surfers of the Zuvuya.

"How is the radiogenetic keyboard of the planet light body experienced at the human level?
Let us imagine that we are not extra- but super-terrestials examining the resonant fluctuations of planet earth. Our means of inspection is the 260-unit radiogenetic keyboard, the Tzolkin. Our focus is upon its 64 central units. Inscribed in this 64-unit matrix is the code and game plan of human destiny, the path beyond technology. Because of the design of the binary flow pattern, the Loom of Maya, this 64-unit matrix is referred to as the "Crossover-Polarity Zone." In other words, just as the chief feature of DNA is a double helix pattern by which a field is created for the crossing over of information from either molecular strand to the other, so the Loom of Maya pattern can be envisioned as a crossing over, to either side of the mystic central column, of the two symmetrical flows comprising the pattern of galactic activation." -- Jose Arguelles

Tzolkin Chart
Click to enlarge. A Chart of the highly codified Tzolkin Cycle sequence.

"The movement of this pattern of four units to the right and left of the central column defines the 64-unit symmetrical field. The 64-unit "keyboard" is the genetic matrix of transformation which unifies the entire 260-unit Tzolkin. The remainder of the Tzolkin, aside from the neural-valued twenty-unit mystic column, breaks down into 144 units of a four-phased radiant energy body, and 32 units of an eight-part crystal symmetry body. The total of twelve (four radiant energy body and eight crystal symmetry) fields of the Tzolkin contain the code information describing the pre- and post-genetic radiance of galactic unfolding. The thirteenth field of the Tzolkin is, of course, at the center and represents the DNA.
Modeling the pre- and post-technological formula defining history, DNA is the transformation matrix holding together primordial and synthesizing phases of radiant and crystalline energy activation. By its centrality in the overall matrix, the function of DNA is to vitalize the entire galactic activation pattern. As a fractal of the galactic whole, and of the geometry of DNA itself, the function of history/technology is to vitalize equally the radiant energy fields that define pre- and post-history.
How does this occur? The answer lies in following the pattern. This pattern, anchored by the fourteen galactic activation units on either side of the mystic column, describes the vibratory infrastructure not only of DNA, but of the universal light body. Holonomically registered at the cellular, individual organism, planetary, solar, and galactic levels, this vibratory infrastructure can also be read as the structural matrix supporting the wave harmonic of history as it passes through the 5,200-tun synchronization beam. Without the activation of the two-way flow during passage through the synchronization beam, the planetary light body would not be crafted. This two-way flow is the Zuvuya, the coming from and returning to Hunab Ku, the galactic core. " -- Jose Arguelles

The Galactic Center or the Black Hole

Today, modern astronomers have indeed verified that at the center of our Milky Way galaxy is found a "whirling disk" with a "Black Hole" at its center that is both swallowing and giving birth to stars. Could the extraordinary low frequency radio wave images discovered coming from the center of our Milky Way galaxy be programmed bursts of energy consciousness coming from the ultimate Creator. . .and actually be a modern manifestation of what the ancient Mayans believed?

Galactic Center

The above startlingly beautiful picture covers a 4x4 degree region around the galactic center.. The galactic center itself is at the edge of the extremely bright object labeled Sagittarius (Sgr) A, suspected of harboring a million solar mass black hole. Along the galactic plane which runs diagonally through the image are tortured clouds of gas energized by hot stars and bubble-shaped supernova remnants (SNRs) - hallmarks of a violent and energetic cosmic environment. But perhaps most intriguing are the arcs, threads, and filaments which abound in the scene. Their uncertain origins challenge present theories of the dynamics of the galactic center.

The collision of the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy

As the young god Hercules forcefully suckled the breast of the Greek goddess Hera, she pushed him away and a spurt of her breast milk spilled across the sky. The name of our home galaxy, which does in fact appear in the night sky as a milky band, originates from this Greek legend. The term ‘galaxy’ stems from the ancient Greek word for milk, ‘gala’.

Mayan Cosmosis

The Mayan cosmologists said that mankind will enter a new beginning... a new era of heightened consciousness beginning on December 21, 2012, when the present 5,125 period of their calendar ends. Perhaps, a colossal emission of a yet unrecognized form of conscious energy will burst out of our Galactic Center on or before December 21, 2012.... a returning Quetzalcoatl consciousness which will change the very physics of our present world paradigm, bringing mankind and our galaxy a new quantum leap in physics and a new spiritual paradigm that will last until the cycle repeats and the cosmic consciousness of mythic time itself comes full circle once again.

There does appear to be a growing convergence taking place with regard to what the ancient Mayans believed and understood and what our modern scientists and quantum physicists are increasingly discovering about our galaxy today.

Cosmic Bio-Machine
Cosmic Bio-Machine

One big difference is how modern physicists view and how the ancient Mayas viewed time. Today, physicists view time as being linear. In contrast, the Mayas believed essentially that time flows in a circle. There is a beginning and an end to things but there is a renewal at the end of the Time Cycle. There is a periodicity with regard to all manifested phenomena. The Mayan highly accurate Long Count Calendar is based on this precept. The Mayans also believed that time originates out of the Hunab Ku and is controlled by it.

End of Time: 2012

It is very difficult to dismiss the Mayan Cosmology because they left extraordinary evidence behind which verifies that their time-keeping methodologies gave extremely accurate results and, in spite of the various changes in our own calendar systems of the more recent past, still do. The ancient Mayan astronomers accurately predicted, over 1500 years ago, the exact alignment of the Earth, the Sun, the star cluster Pleiades with the center of our galaxy that will take place at the end of the present long cycle during the coming Gregorian year of 2012.

On the Mayan Long Calendar the day designated as 4 Ahau 3 Kankin ( falls on December 21, 2012 and this day will mark "El Fin de los Tiempos" or the end of the long cycle when all of humanity will experience a new beginning, and on this day, according to the Mayans and subsequent Meso-American civilizations, the return of Kukulcan also known as Quetzalcoatl will take place.

The pyramids of the Mayan civilization, like the one at Chichen-Itza in Mexico, are precisely aligned to mark the yearly Solstices and the Equinoxes that are caused by the precession of the Earth's axis as it orbits the Sun. The Pyramid of Kukulcan at Chichen-Itza is essentially a superb and highly accurate time-keeping device that never fails to mark the yearly Precession of the Equinoxes.

On December 21, 2012, which coincides with the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, a unique event will occur. As the Sun sets west of Chichen-Itza, a pattern of shadow and light will project an image of the Plumed Serpent Quetzalcoatl descending the stairs of that pyramid which also has a large head of a serpent sculpted in stone at its base. This occurs twice at Chichen Itza every year but on the Winter Solstice of December 21, 2012 something very unique and special will happen.

pyramid serpent
El Castillo pyramid, Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico,

El Castillo pyramid at Chichen Itza plays the role, among other things, of marking the spring equinox in a public and dramatic fashion. This is a picture of El Castillo at the time of the spring equinox. The shadows trace out an immense snake slithering down the side of the pyramid (this happens only on this special day each year).

As the Sun sets in the early afternoon of that day, the shadow of the pyramid's northwest edge will project a moving pattern of light that joins and illuminates the sculpted serpent head at the base of the stairway. Within a thirty-four minute period, the serpent, formed by this play of light and shadow will appear to descend to the Earth, as the sun leaves each stair, going from the top to the bottom. This combined effect creates the visual appearance of the body of the serpent descending the pyramid steps.

Also, on December 21, 2012, the tail of the serpent when projected up from the top of the pyramid will be pointing precisely to the star cluster known as the Pleiades. Finally, on December 21, 2012 at around 11:11 universal time, there will be a precise alignment of our Sun with the galactic center or Hunab Ku. (The pyramids at Teotihuacán which means "City of the Gods," constructed by a Meso-American civilization just north of Mexico City that preceded the Mayas, are also aligned to the Pleiades as are the Egyptian pyramids at Giza).

Quetzalcoatl the Serpent Dragon God of the Maya

Quetzalcoatl is arguably the most famous of all of the Serpent Dragon gods of the New World. No other figure has stirred modern imagination nearly as much, and the history of the interest in this particular mythic figure dates to a time very early after the contact between native inhabitants and the conquering Spaniards in Central Mexico.

The name is a Nahuatl word composed of two separate words joined together; quetzal - the quetzal bird of Guatemala is known for very long green tail feathers that were highly prized - and coatl - serpent. The simplest definition might then be quetzal-bird serpent but the usual modern translation is feathered serpent.

Quetzalcoatl is related to many names and incarnations, and seems to play a prominent role in a pantheon of virtually all the other Mesoamerican deities since he himself is also known as Gukumatz, Nine Wind, and Kukulcan among others as well as being found in the astronomical and cosmological associations among the heavens and stars. These ancient connections include the morning star, which is the planet Venus, as well as the possibility of a connection with the planet Mercury, the messenger.

aztec calender

Ultimately this strong symbolism that runs through the mythology and the various astrological and cosmological incarnations is the thing which in our present time gives us undeniable and very tangible hints of Quetzalcoatl's great ancient power and reveals his ultimate pervasiveness which is evident in the scholarly research of the remaining cultural treasures that the ancient Mayan people left for posterity.

Perhaps this ancient Quetzalcoatl spiritual mythology is eternal and will now return once again to its prominence as a result of the cosmic forces so recently detected as strongly flowing from the Hunab Ku.  It may then become a new and modern cosmo mytho consciousness in the same way that the return of the Christ-Messiah is awaited by those who believe in that version of the cosmo mytho consciousness.

Mayan Elders and 2012
by Carlos Barrios

Carlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq'ij is a ceremonial priest and spiritual guide of the Eagle Clan. Carlos initiated an investigation into the different Mayan calendars circulating. Carlos along with his brother Gerardo studied with many teachers and interviewed nearly 600 traditional Mayan elders to widen their scope of knowledge.

Carlos found out quickly there were several conflicting interpretations of Mayan hieroglyphics, petroglyphs, Sacred Books of 'Chilam Balam' and various ancient text. Carlos found some strong words for those who may have contributed to the confusion.

Mayan Elder Carlos Barrios

"Anthropologists visit the temple sites and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It's just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed.
We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition. As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth Changes.
Humanity will continue, but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human. We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies. All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this era is action.
The indigenous have the calendars and know how to accurately interpret it -- not others. The Mayan Calendars comprehension of time, seasons, and cycles has proven itself to be vast and sophisticated. The Maya understand 17 different calendars such as the Tzolk'in or Cholq'ij, some of them charting time accurately over a span of more than ten million years.
All was predicted by the mathematical cycles of the Mayan calendars. -- It will change --everything will change. Mayan Day-keepers view the Dec... 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator and the Earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy."  -- Carlos Barrios

At sunrise on December 21, 2012 for the first time in 26,000 years the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the world's spiritual traditions.

Yax Che - The Mayan Tree of Life and the Cardinal Directions

Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the Earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it, raising all to a higher level of vibration.

"This process has already begun. Change is accelerating now and it will continue to accelerate. If the people of the Earth can get to this 2012 date in good shape without having destroyed too much of the Earth, we will rise to a new, higher level. But to get there we must transform enormously powerful forces that seek to block the way." -- Carlos Barrios

The date specified in the calendar Winter Solstice in the year 2012 does not mark the end of the world. Many outside people writing about the Mayan calendar sensationalize this date, but they do not know. The ones who know are the indigenous elders who are entrusted with keeping the tradition.

"The economy now is a fiction. The first five-year stretch of transition from August 1987 to August 1992 was the beginning of the destruction of the material world. We have progressed ten years deeper into the transition phase by now, and many of the so-called sources of financial stability are in fact hollow. The banks are weak. This is a delicate moment for them. They could crash globally, if we don't pay attention. Now, people are paying attention.
The North and South Poles are both breaking up. The level of the water in the oceans is going to rise. But at the same time land in the ocean, especially near Cuba, is also going to rise. Carlos tells a story about the most recent Mayan New Year ceremonies in Guatemala. He said that one respected Mam elder, who lives all year in a solitary mountain cave, journeyed to Chichicastenango to speak with the people at the ceremony. The elder delivered a simple, direct message. He called for human beings to come together in support of life and light.
Right now each person and group is going his or her own way. The elder of the mountains said there is hope if the people of the light can come together and unite in some way. We live in a world of polarity -- day and night, man and woman, positive and negative. Light and darkness need each other. They are a balance." -- Carlos Barrios

Mayan Scribe
Mayan Scribe of the Chilam Balam

"Just now the dark side is very strong, and very clear about what they want. They have their vision and their priorities clearly held, and also their hierarchy. They are working in many ways so that we will be unable to connect with the spiral Fifth World in 2012.
On the light side everyone thinks they are the most important, that their own understandings, or their group's understandings, are the key. There's a diversity of cultures and opinions, so there is competition, diffusion, and no single focus." -- Carlos Barrios

Carlos believes the dark side works to block unity through denial and materialism. It also works to destroy those who are working with the light to get the Earth to a higher level. They like the energy of the old, declining Fourth World, the materialism. They do not want it to change. They do not want unity. They want to stay at this level, and are afraid of the next level.

"We live in a world of energy. An important task at this time is to learn to sense or see the energy of everyone and everything -- people, plants, animals. This becomes increasingly important as we draw close to the World of the Fifth Sun, for it is associated with the element 'ether' -- the realm where energy lives and weaves. Go to the sacred places of the Earth to pray for peace, and have respect for the Earth which gives us our food, clothing, and shelter. We need to reactivate the energy of these sacred places. That is our work." -- Carlos Barrios

Carlos said the emerging era of the Fifth Sun will call attention to a much-overlooked element. Whereas the four traditional elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water have dominated various epochs in the past, there will be a fifth element to reckon with in the time of the Fifth Sun --- that element is 'ETHER'.

The dictionary defines Ether as a "hypothetical substance supposed to occupy all space, postulated to account for the propagation of electromagnetic radiation through space." Perhaps it could be defined as the "space between space". I would suggest it could be manifest as the alignment of charged particles from our solar system (Sun), and our galaxy (Milky Way) surge. The Ether element represents spiritual energy.

"The element of the Fifth Sun is celestial. Within the context of Ether there can be a joining of the polarities. No more darkness or light in the people, but an uplifted unity. But right now the realm of darkness is not interested in this. They are organized to block it. They seek to unbalance the Earth and its environment so we will be unready for the alignment in 2012.
We need to work together for peace, and balance with the other side. We need to take care of the Earth that feeds and shelters us. We need to put our entire mind and heart into pursuing unity and unity now, to confront the other side and preserve life.
We are disturbed -- we can't play anymore. Our planet can be renewed or ravaged. Now is the time to awaken and take action. Everyone is needed. You are not here for no reason. Everyone who is here now has an important purpose. This is a hard but a special time. We have the opportunity for growth, but we must be ready for this moment in history." -- Carlos Barrios

"The prophesied changes are going to happen, but our attitude and actions determine how harsh or mild they are. We need to act, to make changes, and to elect people to represent us who understand and who will take political action to respect the Earth.
Meditation and spiritual practice are good, but also action. It's very important to be clear about who you are, and also about your relation to the Earth. Develop yourself according to your own tradition and the call of your heart. But remember to respect differences, and strive for unity. Eat wisely --- a lot of food is corrupt in either subtle or gross ways. Pay attention to what you are taking into your body. Learn to preserve food, and to conserve energy. Learn some good breathing techniques, so you have mastery of your breath. Be clear. Follow a tradition with great roots. It is not important what tradition, your heart will tell you, but it must have great roots.
We live in a world of energy. That is our work.
One simple but effective prayer technique is to light white or baby-blue colored candles. Think of a moment in peace. Speak your intention to the flame and send the light of it on to the leaders who have the power to make war or peace." -- Carlos Barrios

Carlos Barrios
These words are not mine but words of our ancestors...

Carlos reminds us this is a crucially important moment for humanity and for Earth. Each person is important.

He said the elders have opened the doors so that other races can come to the Mayan world to receive the tradition.

"The Maya have long appreciated and respected that there are other colors, other races, and other spiritual systems. They know that the destiny of the Mayan world is related to the destiny of the whole world.
The greatest wisdom is in simplicity. Love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness. It's not complex or elaborate. The real knowledge is free. It's encoded in your DNA. All you need is within you. Great teachers have said that from the beginning. Find your heart, and you will find your way." -- Carlos Barrios

In Lak'ech Ala K'in

"In Mayan tradition, there is a greeting that many people working with Mayan wisdom know of. It is the law of In Lak'ech Ala K'in, which means I am another yourself (A modern day interpretation). It also means I am you, and you are me (A traditional Mayan interpretation). We have come to understand that this Mayan greeting is an honoring for each other. It is a statement of unity and oneness. In Lak'ech Ala K'in mirrors the same sentiment of other beautiful greetings such as Namaste for East India, Wiracocha for the Inca, and Mitakuye Oyasin for the Lakota. It doesn't matter which culture you come from. But when one of these sacred greetings is given, there is always an action of placing the hands over the heart." -- Aluna Joy

Hopi Prophecy and the Mayan Calendar

The Birth of the 5th World
John M. Phillips, January 12, 2009

We’re entering a new cycle, starting actually with Winter Solictice 2008 and culminating with the awesome and much discussed Winter Solstice 2012, when the long 550,000- year cycle of the Mayan Calendar comes to an end.  The next four years promise to be an interesting time of change during which much which has existed as basic patterns of behavior among humans will undergo monumental shifts towards creating a new civilization more in harmony with the needs of human evolution and the care of planet Earth.

Four is a sacred number in the Native American tradition, which they refer to as “the Sacred Ceremonial Way of Life”.  Four stands for the Four Directions, for all that comes from each of the sacred directions, and for the Four Sacred Beings who stand as pillars in each of the four directions and work and dance to keep the world from spinning out of control.

Hopi Blue Star
Hopi Blue Star Kachina

According to Hopi Prophecy, we live in the Fourth World, and they trace the rise and fall of the three previous worlds, and speak of the fact that the human race has reached this point in its evolution three previous times.  When the Hopi saw the mushroom clouds of the atomic bombs being tested and used in warfare, they sent emissaries to tell the nations that the end times were near.  Space travel, genetic engineering, the marvel of world wide communications, and many other trappings and features of the modern world are known to the Hopi from their ancient prophecies passed on by word of mouth from generation to generation.

And of course, the Hopi are really Mayans who came north long ago to escape the degradation and destruction of a previous civilization that they were a part of.  In the Hopi language, part of the Azteca-Mayan language group, the word “Hopi” is said to mean “People of Peace”.  In the Mayan language, the word “Hopi” means something like “Illuminated Ones” or “Awakened Ones Who Went North”.

According to Hopi Prophecy, this particular time we are now going through is a time of exchange of information and ideas between the people who have developed the material culture of science and technology, and the people of the earth who have kept the wise ways of the elders and who have faithfully followed their sacred instructions from the Creator.  In the not too distant future, those two peoples will go their separate ways, perhaps one will go off to journey towards distant suns, never to be heard from again; and the people of the earth will go forward to live in harmony and grace, following the sacred instructions of the Creator, which teach us, among other things, how to live together in peace with each other and how to live in harmony with the earth.

In the past three ages, this point of separation has been accompanied by tremendous earth changes and the virtual destruction of all traces of the previous civilizations.  Or so the story goes.

In western traditions, similar ideas are presented in numerous ways, from the story of Noah to the dialogs of Socrates, to the history of the rise and fall of numerous civilizations, from Crete, Egypt, Sumer and Rome.  In India, the Vedas teach about the Ages, and that we are going through the ending of the cycle known as the Age of Kali Yuga, to be followed by the dawning of a New Golden Age.

So, the good news is that we are coming to the end of the world as we know it!  The only question remaining, is what kind of ending will it be?  The answer seems to be that it is up to us to decide, and now is the time to choose.  That is the significance of the times, for this is the critical time when we can and should decide that its time to make important changes in human relations and in our way of living with the earth.

The point of sharing this information is to remind us that we have a tendency to create the world we believe in.  There is always a lot of fear mongering that goes on when the world around us is in flux, when change is in the air.  Now, of all times, is a time for the Light-Bearers to hold the flame of Divine Truth and Love for all to see, to help dispel the fear and to help guide the way to a new and better world.

unification symbol

Unification Center and Symbol

In the Native American way, there is another meaning for “Four”, the meaning of gifting and receiving something sacred, something of power and meaning, such as an eagle feather or a pipe.  In the giving of a pipe, it is presented four times.  Only at the end of the fourth giving, can it be taken, received.  This is the true meaning of this ending of the Fourth World, for only now, after all that humanity has been through in our collective journey, are we ready to receive the blessing of the Fifth World.  Every spiritual tradition on the planet in its own way holds the expectation of a coming world of truth, goodness and beauty, a world inhabited by Awakened Beings, Masters, Avatars, Living Buddhas, Saints, Saviors and Rishis.

There are many theories and interpretations being put forward concerning the meaning of the date Winter Solictice 2012.  I believe the choices we make and what we accomplish during the next four years will largely determine what kind of world we will leave to future generations.  This is the best timing ever to put forward a maximum effort to do as much good as possible in order to create a positive future for all humankind and all life on Earth.  I hope you will join me in acting on this positive vision for creating the Fifth World at the start of the next cycle of the Mayan Calendar.

The Mayans were also amazing architects, and built entire cities in a manner of absolute precision, utilizing the movements of the planets to chart the design of their structures. You will be able to witness some of these architectural wonders tomorrow at Chichen Itza. Due to the Mayans' close observations of the sky, they were able to devise the calendar in question. This calendar has marked each day for the last 5,125 years - until tomorrow, that is. Tomorrow, December 21, 2012, is the last day of the Mayan calendar - the end of time as we know it. According to the ancient Mayans, there will not be a day after tomorrow.

Mayan Prophecy

Quetzalcoatl and the Ancient Mayans

Next to Deity, peculiar veneration was given to the Feathered Snake, who was regarded as a kind of Messiah, who suffered, died, and arose again. The legend of Quetzalcoatl was thus in parallel with the myth of the dying God, very much as in Egypt, Chaldea, Greece, and as expressed by the early Christian Church.

The Mayas were not a warlike people, and there is no support for popular belief that they were by nature cruel or barbaric. On the altars of their gods they offered only flowers and fruit; and it was not until the decline of the empire and its domination by less advanced tribes that human sacrifice was practiced, and then only on the rarest occasions.

It is believed that the Mayas hold the world record for continued peace. They flourished as a great powerful nation for five hundred years without war with other tribes or internal strife.

The high civilization attained by the Mayas was due primarily to the laws given them by Quetzalcoatl. So long as they obeyed these laws they continued to prosper. Unfortunately we have no complete record of their legal codes, but we do know a few of the outstanding principles which lay at the root of their State.

Quetzalcoatl is a feathered serpent deity, Dan Statan

Quetzalcoatl is a feathered serpent deity found in the ancient Americas with variations showing up in many ancient cultures from South America up into the far North.

The Mayan nation was a collective commonwealth living under an advanced form of socialized order. They possessed all goods in common, and shared equally in the benefits of their production. They possessed no money or monetary symbol of any kind; and it has been suggested that this lack of currency was in part responsible for their five hundred years of peace.

To them the wheel was the symbol of death, and they never developed any form of mechanized industry. Each gave a part of his goods to maintain the State, and this contribution was employed to build public buildings, parks, schools, and places of public sport.

There seems to have been no poverty, and little if any crime. No buildings have been found which suggest prisons or other places of confinement. The Mayas were hospitable, kindly, gentle, and industrious; their cities were beautiful in every way; they were public spirited, well governed, and according to the order of their time, highly educated.

The religious temperament of the people can be gathered from remnants that still survive. It is common to all the Indians of the Americas that religious intolerance is utterly beyond their comprehension. They look upon each man's religion as his own particular belief, and if it suits his needs it deserves the respect of all other right- minded men. Thus we see that the archetype for a generous and enlightened way of life is part of the American continent's common inheritance.

God of Corn
Centeotl (also Cinteotl), the Lord of Corn

Centeotl (also Cinteotl), the Lord of Corn. He is also known as Xilonen, “the Hairy One”. Centeotl is the son of Tlazolteotl. His female partner is the maize goddess Chicomecoatl (“Seven Snake”). In Aztec mythology, corn (Cintli in Nahuatl) was brought to this world by Quetzalcoatl the Morning Star associated with Venus where Sunat Kumara (Peacock Angel) came bringing the Corn, Hummingbird and the bee for the Garden of Eden.

It is well to note in passing that many of the simpler virtues practiced by the Mayas were shared by other tribes that inhabited North and South America. Although the North American Indians never achieved the high culture reached by the Mayas, all lived according to a democratic tradition. The members of all tribes took care of their aged, provided for the widowed and the fatherless, and severely punished in the rare instances when some tribesman attempted to exploit another. Tribal government was invested in a council of the older and the wiser, and all matters relating to the common good were submitted to them for arbitration and solution. Crime was almost unknown.

As most tribes were nomadic they had little opportunity to develop inter-tribal points of view, and so there was considerable strife between tribes, but even in their warfare, North American Indians respected valor and developed chivalry to a marked degree.

Deganawida inspired Hiawatha in his Peace Keeping

The first League of Nations was created among the Great Lakes Indians of the American North east. First, five tribes, and later seven, combined under the leadership of the brilliant Indian leader, Great Rabbit, whose life has descended to us in Longfellow's poem, Hiawatha. The league of the seven nations was originally intended to be defensive, but also useful in settling inter-tribal disputes. It resulted from the simple discovery by aboriginal minds that one lived longer, more safely, and more happily if disputes among peoples were solved by arbitration rather than by open strife.

The Incas of Peru are second to the Mayas in the building of empire in America. Inca communities were also cooperative, and many of these villages still survive in the distant and less accessible high lands of the Andes. These were the only civilized communities in our land that never learned that there was a world depression beginning in 1929.

Quetzalcoatl is known as "the morning star" which is the planet Venus and he was also known by the name Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, "lord of the star of the dawn." also known in Egypt as the SUN/SON God RA (Atum RA) An other representation of Quetzalcoatl is Ehecatl, the Wind God. His calendrical name is Ce Acatl (One Reed). After the last world, the Fourth Sun had been destroyed, Quetzalcoatl went to Mictlan, the land of the death, and created our current world, the Fifth Sun, by using his own blood to give new life to bones. Quetzalcoatl is also the giver of maize (CORN) to mankind.

Quetzalcoatl Returns
Quetzalcoatl Returns

Quetzalcoatl - This Aztec god controlled the SUN/SON and all its mighty powers. The Mayan Calendar was allegedly created by Quetzalcoatl. As the Lord of the East he is associated with the morning star, (Satan believes he is and is wrongly known as "the morning star") his twin brother Xolotl was the evening star (Venus). The Twins or GEMINI two Greek Pillars. The Pillars in the occult realm represent Saturn and Sun and the Dome (Venus).

Return of the Snake-eye

"In the days of Quetzalcoatl there was abundance of everything necessary for subsistence. The maize was plentiful, the calabashes were as thick as one's arm, and cotton grew in all colors without having to be dyed. A variety of birds of rich plumage filled the air with their songs, and gold, silver, and precious stones were abundant. In the reign of Quetzalcoatl there was peace and plenty for all men."

It sounds like paradise. But, as the cliché goes, all good things must come to an end, including the sovereignty of Votan (or, in his Aztec incarnation, Quetzalcoatl). Some believe that necromancers or evil priests overturned his original precepts of enlightened non-violence and instituted human sacrifice. One myth describes the god Tezcatlipoca ("Fiery Mirror") plying Quetzalcoatl with the intoxicating drink pulque, thereby causing the latter to fall into dissolution and moral decay.

The Aztec God Quetzalcoatl -- note red face or mask

The feathered serpent finally abdicated his authority in Mexico and sailed toward the rising sun on a raft of snakes. In another version he cast himself upon a funeral pyre, after which the eponymous quetzal bird with its brilliant plumage rose phoenix-like from the ashes. Quetzalcoatl's heart then ascended into the sky to become the Morning Star (Venus).

Before departing toward the east, however, he had promised to return one day for the purpose of redeeming the land and its people from the trials and suffering they were destined to endure.

Cortez & Montezuma
Cortez meets Emperor Montezuma

In the early 16th century Hernando Cortés conquered -- almost too easily -- Moctezuma and his Aztec subjects at Tenochtitlán (now Mexico City). This rapid capitulation was due in part to the native leader's belief that the Spaniard was fulfilling the prophecy of the ancient god's return.

Tenochtitlan the Aztec Empire now Mexico City

Whether we are talking about the Aztecan Quetzalcoatl or the Mayan Votan, the disastrous result was the same: magnificent cities with their soaring temples and pyramids were left in smoking ruins, while sacred codices with their accumulated knowledge were callously consigned to the flames or lost in the jungles.

It is interesting to note that one of the meanings of the Spanish word Votan is 'a religious vow'. In this case the vow to convert all inhabitants of the New World to the Catholic faith resulted in the almost complete destruction of a fiercely brilliant aboriginal culture that had flowered for millennia.

2012: Galactic Rebirth of the Sun

"When we take all of this into consideration, we see that there is absolutely no doubt that December 21, 2012 offers an excellent solution to the driving question behind the creation of the Long Count calendar!
To intentionally hit this particular winter solstice from that far away, it turns out that the Maya would have needed to know the length of the year to within 45 seconds! This is like measuring the width of the United States to within 20 feet or the distance from Los Angeles to Tokyo to within 40 feet! In terms of a percentage, this is 99.9999 percent correct! In my opinion, this is not merely remarkable; this is absolutely stunning!" -- Thomas Rezzato

In 2012 on December 21st at approximately 06:11-38am EST the Terrestrial Cross of the Earth aligns with the Celestial Cross (not the crux) which is at the center of the Milky Way - the Galactic Center - exactly where the arrow of Sagittarius and the stinger of Scorpius is pointing - the ecliptic between Sagittarius and Scorpio - also recognized by the Maya, and was called the Crossroads or Sacred Tree.

ophi and crown
Ophiuchus and the crowned (CHRISTOS) serpent

The relevance of Ophiuchus (the 13th stellar sign) with the Serpent is that at this moment the serpent is cast down from the realm of the fifth heaven through the gap. The serpent is also known as the Dragon which is, to those that have wisdom, are the Elohim of Ha Shatan.

Take special note of the FIVE celestial bodies that are transversing the Galactic Core at exactly the time the Star gate opens up. These FIVE celestial bodies are Saturn, Venus, Mercury, the Sun, and Mars - in that order.

These FIVE celestial bodies are the precise ASTERS (stars) associated with the FIVE Gatekeepers. The Angelic names of these deities can only be found in the 'tap root' of knowledge, a manuscript called the Book of Enoch:
  • Samuel Semyaza (Sun),
  • Tamiel (Venus),
  • Azazel (Mars),
  • Samsiel (Saturn),
  • Baraqel (Mercury).

It is no coincidence that this "Gap" is also the Galactic Core!

2012 Star Gate

The Galactic Core is the rotational center of our own Milky Way galaxy, where it is suspected that a super massive black hole exists. This "hole" is a gateway, and it opens in 2012. This gate opens or closes every 12-13,000 years. The last time it closed was the beginning of the flood and the destruction of their former world, from which all the legends and myths originate - their seed-lines ruling the world since that time.

ANU and the Anunnaki time travelers

This galactic star gate is a source of the power of the Anunnaki our Creator Gods  In the Sumerian tablets mention the highest Anunnaki as the father of all and he is called ANU..............the Sumerian tablets call him the the Creator of creation.

This star gate that is opening during the winter solstice on December 21 of 2012 is not what most think. It is in fact the opening of the Ha Ides Gate to the Unseen World of the spiritual angels, and the 'serpent rope' that the Mayan's spoke about, is in fact the serpent of old, the devil, being cast down to earth by Michael (Ophiuchus).

Astrological Chart 12-21-2012
Chart for December 21, 2012, at Chichen-Itza, Mexico

Throughout Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras are sacred sites connected to the Mayans. One of their foremost centers was at Chichen-Itza – in the Yucatan region of Mexico – where they built the Pyramid of Kukulcan, otherwise known as the Plumed Serpent or, from the Aztec language, Quetzalcoatl.

Tens of thousands of pilgrims from around the world still travel to the Pyramid of Kukulcan at the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere to witness an event of light and shadow – orchestrated by the Sun and the Pyramid – to reveal the undulating body and head of a feathered-serpent deity that the Mayans associated with the planet Venus.

Most authors and researchers on the subject of the 5125-year Mayan "Long Count" believe that our Western calendar date of December 21, 2012, signifies the end of that lengthy time-period.* What happens after the "end" is anyone's guess – although a large outpouring of books on the subject focus on the "End of the World" (possibly induced by increased solar flares and coronal mass ejections frying our delicate atmosphere on Earth and/or causing massive power grids malfunctions and/or cataclysmic weather events and/or a possible pole shift!) or the "Beginning of a New World" of spiritual enlightenment.

What is undeniable to any rational, thinking individual is that a giant collective "thought form" is being created within humanity focused on the date of December 21, 2012. Regardless of whether anything significant happens in the Latin American countries mentioned above on that date – or anywhere on our planet – the consciousness of our species is now looking forward to this date-experience-event as some kind of celestial-global, Future Shock, potentially of epic proportions.

Off Planet Mayan Calender
Aztec-Mayan Calender

While most astrological analysis pertains to looking at a birth chart from the past, there is no reason why we cannot gaze ahead to an upcoming month-day-year, time and place for answers as to whether the human race fizzles out, keeps chugging along at its current pace or receives a cosmic jolt to become a more compassionate species on Spaceship Earth.

With this in mind, a chart is shown here for sunrise (6:30am CST) on the morning of December 21, 2012 in Chichen-Itza, Mexico. Several of the key alignments happening – at that moment and in that place – are going to be discussed below. In addition, a Mayan Calendar of dates will be presented and updated in the months ahead – pointing out major cycles (transits) activating this potentially transformational end/beginning of our modern civilization. It is our hope that you return to Inner Sight frequently to "catch the wave" of alignments that will "turn on" this chart and help you understand the shape of things to come regarding the end/beginning of the Mayan Calendar.

The Sun and Juno Rise Together at the Winter Solstice

Imagine the December 21, 2012, phenomenon as a creator-child of humanity being born – a talismanic symbol of how we complete one long cycle of history and start another one. Remember that a chart is much more than a two-dimensional document or piece of paper; it represents a picture of the living cosmos wherein the Sun, Moon, planets, asteroids and other celestial objects interact within the aura-like electro-magnetic field of whatever is struggling to incarnate in our world.

When the Sun rises on December 21, 2012 (the day of the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere – a sacred turning point of any year), it is not alone. The smallest of the first four asteroids discovered between 1801 and 1807 – Juno – is in a union with our solar orb. This immediately brings up the qualities of the need for peace on earth, respect for all living things, and that fairness and equality should be the essence of the day itself. On a mundane level, Juno equates with diplomacy, justice and fair treatment under the law. When misused or ignored, Juno can signify atmospheric disturbances, angry outbursts, and rage by the disempowered and dispossessed.

Juno also signifies elegance and beauty, and she was worshipped by the ancient Romans as the Goddess of Childbirth. Thus, the Sun appearing with Juno at dawn on December 21, 2012 is a direct connection to the idea that something profound, beautiful – and feminine – is seeking birth into our way of life.

Neptune Joins Forces with the Sun and Juno

Adding its spiritual weight to the December 21, 2012, event is far-out, mystical Neptune – located at the first degree of Pisces and making a supportive and nearly-exact 60-degree rapport with both the Sun and Juno. Neptune – the second of the three outer planets and discovered in 1846 – is often associated with mass-consciousness events and sweeping trends that affect generations and large groups of people around the world.

Neptune in 2012 is making its first appearance in Pisces – a sign it is said to rule in astrology – in 165 years. The association of Neptune and Pisces with the rising energy of Sun-Juno in Capricorn is to align the elemental powers of water (psychic sensitivity; imagination; inspiration) with the elemental powers of earth (attunement to the land, nature, and mineral kingdom).

If a collective vision for a mobilized, spiritually-infused humanity is to take place on December 21, 2012, the coordination between Neptune, the Sun and Juno on this date may be the primary reason why this occurs.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto: Finger-of-God, Yod Triangle

While the linkage of the three celestial bodies just mentioned is deeply ingrained on this future date, another crucial trinity is announcing its presence. There is what is called a Yod or Finger-of-God triangle formed by Jupiter retrograde in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio, and Pluto in Capricorn. While the Sun, Juno and Neptune interaction is super-strong on December 21 itself, the Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto unusual triangle starts happening several hours before sunrise on December 21, continues into the following day, and concludes on December 26 – just after Christmas Day.

What is a Yod and what kind of energy-field and potential magic does it contain? A Yod is composed of two alignments measuring 150 degrees and one alignment measuring 60 degrees. In total, the 360 degrees of the complete zodiacal circle are covered. When the pattern is nearly exact – as this one is since the three key planets are all activating the ninth degree of their respective signs – it has extra power and significance to change consciousness within humanity.

Jupiter and Saturn are the most watched of the bigger planets going back almost 3000 years to the Chaldean and Babylonian civilizations hundreds of years before the start of the Christian era. They unite in the sky approximately every 20 years, and their conjunctions, squares and oppositions have been studied and researched by countless generations of professional astrologers. They are planets that have much to do with our religious, philosophical, social, educational, business and professional life, work and experiences.

finger of god
Michael Angelo's Finger of God

Pluto has only been known and analyzed since its discovery on February 18, 1930, by Clyde Tombaugh in Flagstaff, Arizona. It has a meaning that is associated with the creator and destroyer principles, mysteries, secrets, the underworld, atomic-nuclear energy, spiritual willpower, repressed emotions, and the conception of children and new worlds.

It may very well be more important that the December 2012 Mayan Calendar event is drawing our attention to this cosmic triangle of Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto than to any intrinsic cultural essence connected back to the vanished race of the Mayans in the Mesoamerican region of the Earth.

With Jupiter retrograde in Gemini and located in the sixth house, one keynote of the cosmic triangle is the urge to communicate (Gemini) a higher and larger truth (Jupiter) within humanity. Saturn in Scorpio in the eleventh house – receiving one of the two 150-degree aspects from Jupiter – appears to signify a mysterious and in-depth transformation (Scorpio) that can restructure (Saturn) human potential. Pluto in Capricorn in the first house – receiving the other 150-degree aspect from Jupiter – portends an earthly conception of a new humanity, but one probably based on the extinguishing of old fears, hatreds and animosities simmering in the subliminal realms of the collective human psyche.

No one knows precisely how a Yod or Finger-of-God triangle works. You can utilize the planetary archetypes in a low, middle or high way. It is up to you to tap into the finest levels of awareness associated with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in order that a celestial trinity of Goodwill (Jupiter), Discipline (Saturn) and Spiritual Purpose (Pluto) find a residence in your heart chakra as you proceed toward the December 21, 2012, event and its aftermath.

The Moon, Vesta and Mercury Form Another Triangle

A less significant and yet still highly relevant triangle occurs if you see the connection happening from the Moon at 15 degrees of Aries in the fourth house to Vesta at 15 degrees of Gemini in the sixth house along with Mercury at 15 degrees of Sagittarius in the twelfth house. It is not often that – on the same day and at the same time – two cosmic triangles will be nearly precise in the heavens.

Mercury opposite Vesta – the main dynamic in the Moon-Vesta-Mercury triangle – signifies that the Eternal Flame archetypes imbedded within the Vesta realm are being matched with the Messenger of the Gods archetypes imbedded within the Mercury realm. These two celestial bodies stand for much more, but the concepts of the Eternal Flame of Ancient Temple magic and the Winged Messenger that communicates divine ideas to humanity are a profound part of our heritage as a species evolving on Earth.

The lunar placement in bold, fiery Aries seeks to anchor the Eternal Flame and Winged Messenger energy into our chakras on December 21, 2012. You will see that the Part of Fortune is united with the Moon and this always occurs every day at sunrise. The Part of Fortune can almost be considered the Ascendant of the Moon – a "Path of Happiness" in accordance with the astrological insights of the eminent 20th century astrologer Dane Rudhyar. Remember, too, that the Moon feels very much at home in the fourth house of roots, traditions, heritage and history– a house placement that the Moon traditionally rules.

Venus and Pallas Energize Heart and Mind

While you are seeking to juggle around Sun-Juno-Neptune, Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto, and Moon-Vesta-Mercury triangles in your heart and mind, you should also embrace the following: Venus in Sagittarius in the twelfth house forms a flowing trine to Uranus in Aries in the third house; Pallas in Pisces in house number three forms a flowing trine to the Lunar North Node in Scorpio in the eleventh house; Pallas is also square to the largest asteroid Ceres – moving retrograde, like Jupiter and Vesta, in Gemini in the sixth house.

Venus – the key planet associated with the Mayan culture – has prominence because it is bringing through the higher dreams and visions always associated with the loftiest meaning of any twelfth house placement. Venus in a fire sign – and in a harmonious, 120-degree rapport with revolutionary change-agent Uranus in fiery Aries – reveals that a new understanding of the Mayan way of life, death and transfiguration wants to happen on December 21, 2012. Plus – there can be a new articulation of these Mayan themes (part of the meaning of Sagittarius and the grouping of planets in the third house) in new books, articles and media reports once the December 21, 2012, event has come and gone.

Pallas has much to do with problem-solving, strategy sessions, research, genius, and the strength or weakness of the human immune system. For this key asteroid to be in harmony with both the North and South Nodes of the Moon is to indicate that many fine minds on Planet Earth should be able to "solve the problem" highlighted by Mayan Prophecy once this date happens – that answers from the universe should be forthcoming and be able to be put in features and stories that human beings around the globe can assimilate in the months and years to follow the December 21, 2012.

Mother Nature - Mother Earth

Great Mother of the Gods, in ancient Middle Eastern religion (and later in Greece, Rome, and W Asia), mother goddess, the great symbol of the earth's fertility. As the creative force in nature she was worshiped under many names, including Astarte (Syria), Ceres (Rome), Cybele (Phrygia), Demeter (Greece), Ishtar (Babylon), and Isis (Egypt). The later forms of her cult involved the worship of a male deity (her son or lover, e.g., Adonis, Osiris), whose death and resurrection symbolized the regenerative power of the earth.

Gaea, in Greek mythology, the earth; daughter of Chaos, mother and wife of both Uranus (the sky) and Pontus (the sea). She was mother, by Uranus, of the Cyclopes, the Titans, and others, and, by Pontus, of five sea deities. She helped cause the overthrow of Uranus by the Titans and was worshiped as the primal goddess, the mother of all things.

Pallas and Ceres are in a close conflict – being square or 90-degrees apart within less than 1 degree. Does a square have to be negative? Not necessarily. Any square is based on dividing the zodiacal circle by the number four, and that means that work must be done to make the alignment useful and helpful. Pallas in Pisces square to Ceres in Gemini could signify that ingenious answers (Pallas) about the need to nurture the Earth and Mother Nature (Ceres) will arrive in abundance within the collective consciousness of humanity on this stellar day.

Mars in Capricorn Links to Ceres in Gemini Via 150-Degrees

Let us not forget the red planet Mars – exalted and extra potent in Capricorn at 27 degrees and in the first house. It forms a very close, 150-degree liaison with Ceres while also connecting to Pallas by a much more supportive and engaging 60-degree link. Mars always has a capacity to create volatility, emotional disturbances and even bloodshed. One hopes that forces working against higher human transformation don't try to use the December 21, 2012 date to create deliberate acts of carnage on Earth. The fact that Mars is said to be exalted in Capricorn may raise the Mars vibrations to a level at which they are more passionate for the good than destructive as a shadow force seeking to bring us down.

Chiron – The Wounded Healer – Makes its Presence Known

All the main celestial bodies have been mentioned in this brief overview except for one – the comet-like body known as Chiron, discovered in 1977 and acting as a bridge between the old solar system (Sun to Saturn) and the new solar system (extending outward to Pluto and beyond in the Kuiper Belt). Chiron orbits the Sun between Saturn and Uranus, and has an approximate 49 to 51 year cycle through the zodiac. Chiron is often associated with the twilight zone (the strange realm between chronological time and eternity), maverick and catalyst principles, and the dynamics of holistic healing and alternative medicine.

Chiron at 6 degrees of Pisces is rather active on December 21, 2012 as it trines Saturn, forms a supportive, 60-degree tie to distant Pluto, and is at the fulcrum of a T-Square pattern involving Venus opposite Jupiter. Notice that Chiron is in the third house and close to the cusp itself.

Perhaps the function of Chiron on this important day is to act in accordance with its name – as a wounded healer, sage and shaman, dispensing out loving, enlightened thoughts and prayers to humanity in deep need of soul-spiritual renewal. In this sense, each one of us becomes a living, breathing Chiron-agent provocateur – ready and eager to jump-start a new Mayan Long Count no matter what the doomsayers may be forecasting.

Alternate Dates, the Nuclear Axis, and Jupiter and Saturn in 2020

*It is important to note that some authors may provide other dates than December 21, 2012, as the be-all and most-important end/beginning of the Mayan Calendar Long Count. One such author – Carl Johan Calleman, in his fantastic book The Mayan Calendar – points to October 28, 2011, as the key date. If something out-of-this-world and earth-shattering happens on or very close to October 28, 2011, we will certainly report on that (assuming the world wide web is still in existence).

Another arena of life – more connected to science, weaponry and energy resources – may link up with the Mayan Calendar event in December, 2012. Back in 1982 – 1983, I discovered that the most important atomic-nuclear explosions and disasters, as well as treaties and negotiations, occurred when one or more celestial bodies were located in a rather narrow zone between approximately 7 and 11 degrees of Gemini and Sagittarius. This came from my in-depth study of the First Nuclear Chain Reaction birth chart from the afternoon of December 2, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois when Enrico Fermi and his team of researchers gave birth to our current Nuclear Era.

The close Venus-Jupiter polarity on December 21, 2012, will ignite the Saturn-Sun opposition that existed in the zodiac when the Nuclear Era began in December, 1942. We just experienced the U.S. Senate ratifying the Start Treaty with Russia on December 22, 2010, after considerable controversy and debate. This happened with the asteroid Vesta exactly on the Sun placement from the birth of the Nuclear Era, and Vesta has much to do with safety and security measures – personally, nationally and globally.

The Mercury-Vesta polarity on December 21, 2012, will also be almost precisely aligned with Venus in the Nuclear Era chart. Therefore, 4 celestial bodies at the Mayan Calendar event will be linking their potent vibrations with the energy-field that gave us both nuclear energy for peaceful purposes as well as nuclear energy for warfare and destruction on a devastating scale. .

Eight years or one octave exactly after the December 21, 2012, Mayan Calendar event, another very significant cosmic alignment takes place: Jupiter merging with Saturn at the first degree of Aquarius on December 21, 2020, on the Winter Solstice day of that year.

This is not just any Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, but the start of a long series of Jupiter-Saturn unions, approximately every 20 years, in air signs – continuing into the 22nd century. This is part of a Great Mutation cycle regarding Jupiter and Saturn – where these two largest planets in our solar system energize each element of the zodiac (fire, earth, air and water) during a series of unions, lasting often for 140 to 160 years and sometimes longer. The December 21, 2020, event of Jupiter uniting with Saturn at 1 degree of Aquarius shifts humanity's consciousness from a cycle that began in 1842 in the earth element (materiality; money; physical resources) to the air element (thinking; ideas; mental resources).

A Global Renaissance, the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius

Could it be that the Mayan Calendar event of December 21, 2012 – if it comes and goes without the destruction of our world – will actually point to the beginning of a global renaissance starting 8 years later to the day when Jupiter and Saturn activate the symbolic birthing point of Aquarius – launching a series of decades that could constitute the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius? Here is another mind-boggling consideration to have in your consciousness as you study the upcoming cycles activating the birth chart for sunrise in Chichen-Itza on December 21, 2012.

In 2012 the galactic equator cuts the ecliptic at 0 degree of the Western zodiacal sign Capricorn. 0 degree Capricorn is the point of the zodiac where the Sun is during the December solstice.

The target is the Symbol for Pluto on December 2012 – the end of the Process. Pluto will be at 8.56 Capricorn – reading the Symbol for Capricorn 9: AN ANGEL CARRYING A HARP. What does this mean – the Harp is a symbol of different vibrations (in the spiritual world), different levels associated with each string of the Harp. Expect for a step to another level of overall spiritual vibration – a higher angelic one. Different for everyone of us, though.

Put another way: when you were born, the mass of the obstetrician had slightly more influence on you than the planet Mars did… but slightly less than that of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system.

The cosmic cross formed by the intersecting Milky Way and plane of the ecliptic was called the Sacred Tree by the Maya. The trunk of the tree, the Axis Mundi, is the Milky Way, and the main branch intersecting the tree is the plane of the ecliptic. Mythically, at sunrise on December 21, 2012, the Sun – our Father – rises to conjoin the center of the Sacred Tree, the World Tree, the Tree of Life..

This rare astronomical event, foretold in the Mayan creation story of the Hero Twins, and calculated empirically by them, will happen for many of us in our lifetime. The Sun has not conjoined the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic since some 25,800 years ago, long before the Mayans arrived on the scene and long before their predecessors the Olmecs arrived.

Mayan Galactic Butterfly

Overwhelmingly, cultural myth and lore honor the Butterfly as a symbol of transformation because of its impressive process of metamorphosis. From egg, to larvae (caterpillar), to pupa (the chrysalis or cocoon) and from the cocoon the final step of Ecolosion is the graceful and elegant Butterfly emerges in her unfurling glory. What a massive amount of transition this tiny creature undergoes for it's process of Eclosion. Consider for a moment the kind of energy this expends. Imagine the whole of your life changing to such an extreme you are unrecognizable at the end of the transformation. Mind you, this change takes place in a short span for the butterfly its about a month for their life cycle to complete).

Herein lies the deepest symbolic wisdom of the Butterfly. She asks us to accept the changes in our lives as gracefully as she does. The Butterfly unquestioningly embraces the changes in her environment and her body. This unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of her unquestioning faith. Here the Butterfly beckons us to keep our faith in ourselves as we undergo major transitions in our lives. She understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of mother nature – she asks us to recognize the same. Interestingly, in many cultures the Butterfly is associated with the soul – further linking our animal symbolism of faith with the Butterfly. It’s connection with the soul is rather fitting at this point in time, We are being called to open to the new emerging reality of our souls true purpose and join out hearts collectively with the Soul of Mother Nature, Gaia.

Through love: Darkness becomes clear.
Through love: Bitter things become sweet.
Through love: Pain becomes the healing.
Through love: Dead becomes alive.
Love makes the sea boil like a kettle.
Love crumbles the mountain like a sand.
Love drills hundred holes in the sky.
Love trembles the earth like a quake.

On August 7th 2009 (7,8,9 ... Evolution Sequence Activated ...ツ) , a gigantic Human Butterfly Crop Circle (530 meters X 450 meters) appeared in Southern Holland (Netherlands) near a town called Goes. This is the biggest crop circle ever reported which speaks it's message loud and clear, 'Humans are Evolving' ... well illustrated by the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly! The spiritual evolution involves transcending ego and quite interestingly when you anagram the word 'Goes' you get 'Egos' ... seems like a direct message ... letting go of the egos is one of the first steps towards self-realization / awakening / enlightenment / evolution ... this is how it 'goes' ...

Human figure with butterfly wings in the crop circle formation, a lot like Da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man".

The 'RED' Royal Temple of Palenque

One of the finest examples of Maya architecture is without a doubt the Royal Red Palace of Palenque, the Classic Maya (250-800 AD) site in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. Royal residence of the rulers of Palenque since the Early Classic (250-600 AD), Palenque's constructions now visible in the archeological sites date to the Late Classic (600-800/900 AD) and the period of its famous king Pakal the Great and his sons.

This royal complex was not only the residence of the king, provided with all the comforts such as latrines and sweat baths, but also the political core of the Maya capital, and was used to receive foreign visitors, organize sumptuous feasts, and to work as an efficient administrative center.

In the 7th century, Pakal the Great enlarged the palace and constructed a new throne room, House E. There, the typical characteristics of Maya house architecture, such as high thatch roof and rooms facing an open patio, were replicated in stone, with the addition of stone decorations and crests. The building walls were decorated with stucco motifs and painted in bright colors, mostly red, with elements of blue, yellow, white and green.

Architecture of the Palace at Palenque

The main entrance of the Royal Palace at Palenque approached from the north and east sides, both flanked with monumental staircases. The different houses, corridors and the tower that form the intricate and elegant plan of the palace are organized around central courts, following a typical Maya pattern. The largest of these courts is the East Court, on the northeast side of the palace. Here, a wide open area was the perfect space for public events, important visits of other nobles and leaders. The surrounding walls, in fact, are decorated with images of humiliated captives to show the military achievements of Pakal.

Perhaps, the most important building in the palace was House E, the throne room. This was one of the few buildings painted in white instead of red, the typical color used by the Maya in royal and ceremonial buildings. At the center of the main room stood the throne, a stone bench, on top of which the king sat with is legs crossed, and where he received high dignitaries and nobles from other Maya capitals. Behind the throne, a stone carving, the famous Oval Palace Tablet, described the ascension of Pakal as ruler of Palenque in 615 AD and his coronation by his mother, Lady Sak K'uk'.

Mayan King Pakal Votan

King Pakal Votan

In the year 1952, the Mexican archaeologist Alberto Ruz discovered the tomb of King Pacal inside the Temple of Inscriptions of Palenque in Chiapas, Mexico. This region was once protected by a number of logs placed in a defensive and fortified way around the temples of Palenque. At the entrance of the temple there were a total of 620 inscriptions near the tomb of King Pacal who, according to the symbols, was born in Palenque, started ruling over the Mayan empire when he was 12 years old and remained in power for a total of 65 years before his death at the age of 80. One of the curiosities is that the Temple of Pacal is the only pyramid in the new world where a crypt was found, defining the pyramid as a burial place just like the ancient Egyptians. The tomb weight reached the 20 tons and it was build better than the entrance stone that was removed before the findings, which make archeologist believes that the temple was constructed after the crypt was put in place.

One of the most important aspects of the crypt was the cover stone. It weighted 5 tons and it have an inscription on top that, according to the first archeologist who studied, show the representation of the decent of King Pacal to the underworld and the Mayan believe of the three worlds: the heavens or world above, the world of the living and the world of the dead. Other archeologist interpreted the hieroglyphics as describing the presence of the monster from the deeps of the earth, the Mayan sacred tree and the hairs of the god of rain, but it was the third interpretation and the study of the remains that caused one of the greatest controversies on the world of archeology.

The Temple of Inscription, the tomb of Pacal Votan of Palanque, Yucatan

The actual name Votan comes from the Tzendal Maya of Chiapas. It literally means 'heart', and he was known as "the heart of the people." This deified human reputedly kept a record of the origin of the native races, which he gave to the guardians of a subterranean "Hall of Records" in Mesoamerica.[2] The whereabouts of this depository are still unknown. John Van Auken of the Edgar Cayce Foundation provides compelling evidence that it may be located at Piedras Negras in Guatemala, though this remains unconfirmed.

Votan's mythological analogues include Kukulkan at Chichén Itzá, Gucumatz for the Quiché Maya, Itzamná in the Book of the Chilam Balam, Quetzalcoatl in the Aztec tradition, Viracocha in the Peruvian Andes, and Pahana among the Hopi.

The Pre-Incan god Viracocha from Peru

In the Mayan mythological, historical, medical, astrological, and esoteric text called Chilam Balam, for instance, we find the following prophetic lines: "Itzamná Kauil shall rise. Our lord comes, Itzá. Our elder brother comes, oh men of Tantun [Island of Cozumel]. Receive your guests, the bearded men, the men of the east, the bearers of the sign of God, lord."

Votan was the archetypal bringer of civilization, bequeathing hieroglyphic writing, the codification of laws, the use of a complex Mesoamerican calendar, the cultivation of maize and cotton, sacrificial offerings of flowers and fruits rather than humans, and such diverse sciences as astronomy, metallurgy, ceramics, and medicine. It appears that he was, so to speak, a quintessential Renaissance man.

Quantum Theory and DNA

Quantum theory strongly hints at the possibility that what we take for our reality is actually composed of a reality that is totally vibrational in character; simply an illusion which makes our lives seem logical and livable in a practical everyday manner.

Perhaps the recent signals from the galactic center are a cosmic vibrational code, sent from the Creator to change our very human nature by restructuring our DNA sent out in order to modify and increase our present understanding of the quantum universe we inhabit and, through this process of change, put us on a new, yet altogether ancient spiritual path that is but the completion of an ongoing evolutionary cycle and a cyclic return to its very beginning just as the Mayan Calendar seems to foretell.

Either the discovery of new methods of DNA testing or the refinement of current ones will soon make its results more conclusive. Scientists will then be able to find genetic evidence that proves "deities" such as Votan were diffused or dispersed across the globe beginning perhaps as early as the Upper Paleolithic. Very recent findings point toward this:

Votan's sarcophagus lid deep inside the Temple of the Inscriptions at Palanque

In fact, there has been some discussion about how that 90% of our DNA may actually interface with a fifth, as yet unseen dimension. Perhaps it is performing tasks that are not yet readily identifiable because of the limitations in our present ability to understand the physics involved.

Origins of Life

It has been proposed by some scientific thinkers that the junk DNA is in fact a master cylinder, so to speak, that runs the rest of the DNA and tells it what to do, instructs it how to perform. In this way it would operate much like the subconscious, or perhaps the superconscious, in interfacing with a reality which we cannot yet distinguish in our “day to day” world.

The 'Red Queen' of Palanque

The mystery of this royal Mayan Lordess haunts my memories of Palenque. In 1994, a temple and burial chamber dedicated to a royal woman was excavated - something never before seen in the Mayan world. There were no identifying name glyphs, so she was named La Reyna Roja, the Red Queen, because of large deposits of red dust that they found covering the walls of her sarcophagus and body. The red dust was cinnabar, a red mineral ritualistically used in burials.

Red Queen Tomb
The "Red queen's" tomb Cinnabar lined tomb. Palenque. Chiapas, Mexico

Her body was wrapped in a shroud and she was "unusually" tall for the population – approximately 5'4 inches. Her cranium was elongated, as were the other Palencanos found buried in the center of the ancient city of Nah Chan Kaan. (Researches call this a 'deformity' that was created by sandwiching the cranium between two boards. Or in other cultures, by tightly wound bandages.) It is interesting that this "cranial deformity" has been found common to many very ancient races – the Egyptians, the Olmecas, the Pre- Inca, etc. According to some of the esoteric doctrines and teachings, a divine root-race through whom all great civilizations developed, had elongated craniums with full-functioning brain centers. Later, as fewer of the divine race remained, the practice of "cranial deformation" was practiced by those who came after, in order to emulate the wisdom and knowledge of these ancient ones, whom they revered. The Anunnaki!

mask of red queen

Both Pacal Votan and the "Red Queen" were found buried in a lidded sarcophagus inside a crypt, on top of which temples were built. Both temples have inner stairways leading to the burial chamber, and both personages were buried with sacrificed attendants to accompany them into the underworld. This is not customary in the funerary practices of the Maya, and is more reflective of ancient Egyptian burial practices. Both of their temples were built side-by- side within the ancient city's Great Plaza. Both Pacal Votan and the 'Red Queen' wore mortuary masks; and each was found with (what had been) a ceremonial belt of jade beads, pearls and three small axes. Both of their sarcophagi were painted red with cinnabar.

The Temple of the Red Queen is next to the Skull Temple . It is also known as Temple XIII , and is the second building to your right which you will see as you walk into the site. The temple is built on top of a large platform, and was built to cover 2 older buildings. Three vaulted rooms separated by thick walls were built as a funerary vault.

Skull Temple at Palanque

The middle room contains a rectangular monolithic sarcophagus, completely painted red, which was covered by a 2.4 meter by 1.18 meter lid. This tomb held the remains of a woman much in the same way the Temple of the Inscriptions, next door, held those of King Pakal II . She is now known only as the Red Queen, due to the large amount of cinnabar that covered her bones. There is no conclusive evidence, however, about who this woman could have been. All we know is she was a robust woman who died when she was in her 40s and was covered with a luxurious funerary garment. A malachite mask was placed on her face, she was wearing necklaces, earrings, wrist bands, ankle bands and a diadem made of circular beads. Altogether, the offerings in her tomb had more than 1000 pieces of jade, malachite and sea shells. No hieroglyphic texts were found in her tomb, so her identity remains a mystery, although there has been some speculation around her possible identity as Pakal II' s wife or perhaps Lady Sak K'uk', Pakal's mother.

red tomb
Red paint still clings to the walls of a 1,500-year-old tomb, hidden inside a pyramid Palenque archaeological site.

The complete lack of information on any scriptures about her identity or her role certainly doesn't allow any scholar to accept these speculations. Whoever she was there is no doubt she was a very important figure and a prominent Lady in Palenque 's society... A complete DNA test will probably shed some lights as to whom this lady could have been!

Temple of the Red Queen next to the Temple of Inscriptions at Palanque

On the sides of the sarcophagus were the remains of her 2 companions, who traveled with her to the other world and were probably sacrificed to this effect. One was another woman and the other companion was a child. The ceramics found within the tomb indicate that the lady was buried between 600 and 700 AD. In the sarcophagus, and placed next to her skull, was a sea shell that had a small female limestone figurine carved in inside. The shell symbolized the fertile waters of the inferior world, and therefore, symbolized the motherly womb, the watery milieu of human gestation... It is possible this also represents this lady's burial into the subterranean world... The Ancient Maya believed that when a human being died the person started a trip down into the Underworld. Along with other expressions they used to indicate "death", the Maya used the words ochab-bi "he who entered the path", which indicated the deceased had started his or her path down into the depths of the earth...

Alberto Ruz Lhuillier had discovered a rich offering in this building before, during the 1954 excavations, with remains of green and red paintings, 25 beads of jade, several teeth and bone garments. But it wasn't until 1994 that archaeologist Arnoldo Gonzalez in a new excavation at the building found the Red Lady's tomb.

Jose Arguelles: Returning to Natural Time

Just as our subconscious may be comprised of perhaps 90% of our “overall consciousness,” and it is therefore vastly important and useful in living our lives, so too is the possibility that the 90% of our DNA which is labeled as “junk” is also quite important and useful. There may be unique, as yet undiscovered parallels between these two systems.

Dr. Jose Arguelles

The Law of Time

"The Law of Time is a universal law and principle. It states that time is the universal factor of synchronization.
The Law of Time distinguishes between a natural timing frequency that governs the universal order, and an artificial timing frequency which sets modern human civilization apart from the rest of its environment, the biosphere.
The effect of basing a civilization on artificial timing factors - an irregular calendar and the mechanical clock - has resulted in the creation of an artificial global mantle, the technosphere. By consuming natural resources faster than they can be replaced and creating more waste than can be eliminated, the technosphere operates at the expense of the biosphere. Hence, the current global crisis.
The Law of Time affirms that all of the planetary upheavals and social chaos that we are experiencing today are directly related to giving precedence to human laws and machine technology, rather than divine order and natural law. This is due to living a collective misperception of time known as the 12:60 frequency. This refers to the 12 month cycle of the irregular Gregorian calendar paced by the 60 minute clock.
Living in artificial time disconnects us both as a species and individually from our true nature. We always feel like we never have “enough time.” In the 12:60 frequency, time is money. In the 13:20 frequency, time is art.
The 13:20 ratio of the natural timing frequency coded into the Tzolkin – the 260-unit harmonic matrix. The 13:20 frequency can also be found in our body: we have 13 main articulations and 20 fingers and toes.
The Law of Time affirms that by the nature of the universal timing frequency the world is already as one. It is only humankind who has chosen separation. This separation is reinforced by separation in time, living by the clock and the irregular measure of the Gregorian calendar keeps the world from being as one.
The Law of Time states that: Energy factored by time equals art. In this equation, (E) refers to all phenomena in their processes of unfoldment; (T) is the present moment functioning according to the ratio constant 13:20. Everything shaped by time is art." -- Dr. Jose Arguelles

A Tribute to Dr. Arguelles - Valum Votan

Valum Votan, The Call of Pacal Votan Dr. José Argüelles 1939 - 2011

Famous Artist, Author, Earth Day & Whole Earth Festival Founder dies at 72

LOS ANGELES (AMG) — With the absence of much media attention, a tremendously influential person of huge importance to the ethnic (indigenous), environmental, and New Age spiritual communities, the visionary leader, author and artist, Dr. José Argüelles quietly passed away on March 23rd of this year.
Perhaps best know to most as the famous author of his controversial book entitled The Mayan Factor, a discourse with intricate diagrams often cited as a leading cause for the current frenzy of discussion about our ancient Mayan culture; Dr. Argüelles was a central figure responsible for contemporary society's renewed interest in many things concerning our ancient Mayan ancestors, most especially the Mayan calendar and its 13th Baktun long count cyclical end which is quickly approaching its zenith on Dec. 21, 2012. Yet, beyond his influence on a renewed interest in the ancient Maya, Dr. Argüelles also had a great impact on many aspects of other issues additionally vital to humanity's evolutionary growth. This legacy too, will live on. -- by Angel Tenes - 11/23/2011

The Maya and Psychoactive Substances

Understanding the Mayan's Triple Rebirth Metaphor of 2012

Your True Self - What you think of as your personal consciousness is simply the One Awareness looking out through your eyes! This is happening to you right now and it has been happening to you your entire life! What was created when you were born was not a new personal consciousness but a new viewpoint from which the One Awareness experiences the world! Your true self is the One Awareness, not the sentient being you have considered yourself to be all your life. This is what some of the ancient Maya shamans discovered.

But not everyone who uses the chemicals from the toad awakens to this new understanding of the self, which is a core ingredient of what some people call a type of “enlightenment.” Yet the people that don't wake up to the true self often still wake up to the idea that there is a greater spiritual reality behind our ordinary physical reality. This is like waking up or being born into a spiritual world. This is why it can be said that the unfolding of this spiritual understanding has three births. Here they are:

1) Your birth into a materialist's view
2) Your birth into a spiritual understanding
3) Your awakening to your true self as the One Awareness

Psychedelic Effects of the 5-MeO-DMT from the Bufo Toad
by Thomas Rezzato

“If you are in a dark room, don’t beat at the darkness with a stick, but rather try to turn on the light!” -- Yogananda

In his book Tryptamine Palace, James Oroc describes the effects of the psychedelic chemicals from this toad. By the way, the main chemical is called 5-MeO-DMT and it has different effects from other types of DMT from different sources such as the vines used to make the Ayahuasca brew that is well known in South America. Now, it is important that I clearly point out that this chemical is illegal and risky. Because of this, I strongly recommend meditation rather than psychedelics as a tool for self-discovery but let's continue. Oroc states that he had the experience of becoming “consciousness without identity.” Since this is commonly reported by others who have used this drug, it is extremely likely that the Maya shamans also had this experience.

The Maya and their ancestors, the Olmec, were very interested in the Bufo toad. The shamans kept them captive as sacred pets and since the toads live to be over thirty years old, some of them would outlive their owners. Thousands of skeletal remains of these toads have been found and it seems as if the Maya and the Olmec created sacred burial sites specifically for these toads. One example of this is located in San Lorenzo and it dates back over 3,000 years.

Mayan Magic Mushrooms

Mayan Enema

A variety of drugs and alcoholic beverages (Balché) were used in medicine and religious ceremonies. Drunkenness was connected with the wide-spread practice of divination, a ritual act designed to allow direct communication with certain supernatural forces such that an individual could foretell the future or understand due causes for events or illness not otherwise understood. A drunken state was supposed to give one the insight to interpret the reasons for illness, misfortune, adverse weather, and so forth. The Balché was made with the bark of the tree with the same name (Lonchocarpus longistylus Pittier) and honey. Wild tobacco (Nicotiana rustica), that is stronger than the domestic and could be hallucinogen,  and other species of plants were smoked or administered in enemas to induce a trance-like state, (ingesting psychoactive drugs anally produces a more powerful and instantaneous reaction than drugs taken orally).

Some mushrooms names clearly indicate their use, such as one type called "k'aizalah okox," the "lost judgment mushroom" (Psilocybe cubens).

There is evidence the Maya used the seeds of The Morning Glory or "Quiebracajete" (Ipomoea violacea) and another very similar plant (Rivera corymbosa), along with Balché,  to achieve a trance-like state connected with divination. The morning glory is 5 times stronger than the R. corymbosa, and they have 6 ergotamine alkaloids.

Easily the most entertaining device for altering the mind was due to the large tropical Wad Toad, (Bufo marinus). Used to deter would-be predators, the compound was extracted by the Maya and taken in measured doses to transport their minds to another level of thinking and communicate with their "Way". The Spaniards reported that Mayas added tobacco or toad skins to their alcoholic beverages to give it an added kick.

The Peyote Cactus (Lophophora wiliamsii), known in Central America as "Aguacolla" was also used.  The Spaniards priest describe it's use both, medicinally and ceremonially, for many ills and that when intoxicated with the cactus (Mescaline, related with LSD), the user saw "horrible visions".

With most plant base ethnogens it's really all YOU, or you have to extract any meanings from a flow of images, but the Magic Mushroom seems to speak to your soul, it communicates, like an intelligence. And here's what it's currently saying to us:

" Isn't this a perfectly lovely planet? Look how beautifully, delicately interconnected it all is! You don't want those primitive Apes to destroy all this, do you?  DO YOU?!"  -- Terence Mackenna

So, unlike the Butterfly, and possibly unlike the Dolphin (which anyway lives too distant to be able to teach us much) the Magic Mushrooms so abundant in Palanque, seem to possess an investment in Peace among us Humans beings!

Exactly what may happen on December 21, 2012 still remains a mystery but it seems we might be receiving stronger and stronger clues. Obviously the Mayans certainly attached great significance to this date and foresaw a great cyclic change... both an ending and a new beginning. The Alpha and the Omega!

Could the strange, intelligent signals emanating from the center of our galaxy, the Hunab Ku, be a cause of the weather and other changes we are experiencing here on Earth today? Will these intelligent, energetic bursts of consciousness from Hunab Ku increase in number and intensity as we approach the year 2012? Are they of an ancient cosmic spiritual nature, setting the stage for the change to a new cosmic paradigm in our Milky Way Galaxy? I believe that the ancient Mayan cosmologists would most likely answer in the affirmative... Yes indeed - change is coming !

Milky Way, bringing us in line with the black hole beneath our solar system

We leave you with the Last interview Terrance Mackenna gave before his passing. Terence (1946—2000) studied the ontological foundations of Shamanism and the Ethnopharmacology of spiritual transformation for the past quarter century. An innovative theoretician and spellbinding orator, Terence has emerged as a powerful voice for the psychedelic movement and the emergent societal tendency he calls The Archaic Revival. Poetically dispensing enlightened social criticism and new theories of the fractal dynamics of time, Terence de-obfuscates many aspects of the visionary lexicon, and then some.
